Neil Came by yesterday and dropped off these fresh Sting Ray’s and Gravy Boats. For those who are new to the blog, these Recycled Sidewalk Surf Craft are quite special.  Each Skate is one of a kind. They are shaped, taped, numbered and dated right here in Long Beach, CA by our Dear Friend Neil Harrison . Decks are $70, Completes are $170

Here are a few shots of RT on Red Headed Stepchild. The bottom line is we dig it! It appears to be a strange ride off the bat but after a wave or two, all who took a spin agree that its fast and great top to bottom. Speedy and smooth. This tester has us using a Fibre Glass Fin Co 8.5″ GL Flex. We’ve tried the 8.5″ and the 9″ with wide base as well as the 9″ standard base. They all work well depending on rider and conditions.

Mollie was here !! We think she’s gonna call the brand One Drop. This time she brought bags for 7′ and 8′ boards made out of remnant fabrics including canvas, drapery and burlap and other wonderous things! Hand mad in California!  We still have a few in the 6 foot size as well. Each bag is one of a kind $75

Here’s some shots of the 5′9 Fineline Gee Bee we picked up about 10 days ago. Although we are enjoying the heck out of this board so far, we have not yet given it a nickname. RT will be getting to know it over the next two weeks. Look for a follow up post with its christening and hopefully some action shots.

Brian has been keeping us very busy with the Fineline shapes this past few months but we’re not complaining!! So far they all work great. The only thing that gets us to move on is a new one!!

If you’ve ever made it by the shop and seen Jeff Becks Wood and foam boards, you can tell that he takes his craft seriously. Jeff jas now expanded his line to include Foam and glass boards using sustainable materials at an amazing price! This hull has a narrower outline, bladed rails and 1/8″ stringer.

Late 60’s Hansen Derringer Vee Bottom -$900

This board is in way better shape than any of the other examples I have seen pass by my eyes. It is water tight and the deck looks better than most boards that are 6 months old. It is a little yellowed but you can tell that it is more from age and not from leaving the board out in the sun.

This Board is well worthy of a ride but would also do fine in a collection. It has rad lam art and pin lines with green high density foam stringer.

Fineline 6′0 Gee Bee with Side Bites and 9″ Greenough 4a fin - SOLD

This board has a full blue resin tint and was built in concept to be a stand up version of the Greenough Spoon. Essentially, it is a small hull that is built short and wide. the Large fin and side bites provide both drive and hold in the face of the wave. FYI, RT and I have a red 5′9 that we picked up yesterday for our own demonstrative use. I rode it this morning and I must say that the work of Brian Hilbers has yet to provide anything less than an excellent wave riding experience.

Liddle 6′4 Smoothie with 9″ L-Flex B Fin -SOLD

One from the godfather, this hull features a round template with mellow nose rocker and wide point forward. at 6′4 this is a rare gem and a beautiful board.

Fineline 6′3 MP with full creme resin tint, side bites and matching 8.5″ L-Flex B fin - SOLD

By far this is one of our favorite shapes around here. The front 2′3 of the board is hull and the back 1/3 has a bit more volume and edge in the rail than the tradition recommends. Pulled in hips, side bites and plenty of volume where it counts are added to the list of standard hull features to provide a fun and unique wave riding experience.
